Spigot is a fork of a modified version of Minecraft servers called Bukkit. Spigot set out to optimize Minecraft servers and add support for plugins, modifications that can change Minecraft mechanics and add features without requiring each player to install mods on their own computer. While Spigot is quite old, it is still maintained for the latest versions of Minecraft and is a great option for those looking for a slightly altered Minecraft experience without having to have each player install mods on their computer.
When you're running a Spigot server, there's no installation required on your PC. You'll just need to install the plugins on the server and connect to the server from the vanilla game.
We make it easy to install Spigot and plugins at indifferent broccoli. Simply navigate to the Change Server Type tab and select Spigot. Your server will wipe and set up the server again as a Spigot server.
That's it. You're done installing Spigot. Now all you need to do is add some plugins.
Adding plugins is simple. First, open up the File Manager.
Then navigate to the /minecraft/
folder. Now that you have Spigot installed, you'll see a /plugins/
folder where you can drop your plugin jar files. You can download plugins from different places such as SpigotMC, Modrinth, and Curseforge.
Simply drop your jar files into the plugins folder and restart the server. From there, your plugins will load and be visible to all players who join the server. Many plugins also generate configuration files after the first restart that allow you to further customize the plugin after installation.
