If you're new to Project Zomboid, it can be confusing to know exactly what to do after playing the tutorial. There are so many things to consider as soon as you start playing. In this article, we've summed up some of the most important Tips and Tricks from Project Zomboid veterans to make sure you are off to a great start.
Project Zomboid is hard by default. When you first start, it's likely that you'll get overrun and die. But that's okay, the more you die, the more you learn what you need to do to survive. Find food, find somewhere safe, find a weapon store and build out your base.
Why are you running? Stop it, get some help. (no meme references intended…). As long as a zombie isn't a sprinter, you'll be able to outpace any zombie by just walking. You'll save yourself a lot of hassle with stamina, hunger and thirst by just walking to your next location.
Press C to crouch. Sneaking around is essential to not alert a horde of zombies. This can save you hours of gameplay just by being patient and sneaking past a horde while you're going to your next grocery store to loot.
It's not very hard to find a car that has some gas in it. If you're somewhere remote or need to get to another city, find a car and just drive. Don't stop unless you need gas, because the sound of the car will likely attract unwanted attention from zombies. When you get out, do nothing but run away, because the zombies will likely have already started making their way towards your car. Don't drive into a hoard, you will likely die.
With indifferent broccoli, we allow you to easily change your sandbox options in our control panel. You can adjust things like your zombie population so there aren't so many zombies. Maybe you want to turn off infection so you're not doomed from one run in with a zombie, or even free trait points. It's good to start easy and ease yourself into a harder difficulty. It's great to get started with experienced friends as well.
