If you've been playing locally and want to continue your progress on a dedicated server, this guide will walk you through transferring your save file via FTP.
Note: Star Rupture is currently in Early Access. Save file locations and procedures may change at any time with a game update. If this guide is outdated, please let us know in our Discord.
1. Stop the dedicated server before making any changes.
1. Open Steam, right-click Star Rupture in your library, and select Manage → Browse Local Files.
2. Navigate backward to Steam\userdata\<YourSteamID>\1631270\remote\Saved\SaveGames\
Tip: If you can't find the folder, press
Win + Rand pasteexplorer "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\userdata". Open your user ID folder and look for1631270.
3. Find the save folder you want to upload. Each save folder contains two files:
AutoSaveX.savAutoSaveX.met4. Note the number on your latest save files (e.g. AutoSave3.sav and AutoSave3.met).
1. Connect to your server via FTP using a client such as FileZilla or WinSCP.
2. Navigate to the following directory on your server: StarRupture/Saved/SaveGames/
3. Upload your entire save folder into the SaveGames/ directory.
4. Open the uploaded folder and rename your latest save files to AutoSave0.sav and AutoSave0.met.
Note: The server looks for
AutoSave0specifically. Local saves start counting fromAutoSave1, so if you skip this step the server will not find your save and will start a new game instead.
1. In your Indifferent Broccoli panel, go to Basic Server Settings.
2. Set the Session Name to match the name of your uploaded save folder exactly.
3. Set the Save Game Name to AutoSave0.sav.
4. Ensure Load Saved Game is toggled on.
5. Click Save Config & Restart Server.
1. Launch Star Rupture and open the Server Manager.
2. Enter your server IP, Port, and Admin Password.
3. Click Load Game, select your save, and launch.
