If you've been playing locally and want to continue your progress on a dedicated server, this guide will walk you through transferring your save file via FTP.
Note: VEIN is currently in Early Access. Save file locations and procedures may change at any time with a game update. If this guide is outdated, please let us know in our Discord.
1. Stop the dedicated server before making any changes.
1. Open Steam, right-click VEIN in your library, and select Manage → Browse Local Files.
2. Navigate to Vein\Saved\SaveGames\
3. Locate your save file. It will be a .vns file named after your world.
Note: If you only see
steam_autocloud.vdf, you may need to disable Steam Cloud Sync, load your save in-game, then close the game and check again.
1. Connect to your server via FTP using a client such as FileZilla or WinSCP.
2. Navigate to the following directory on your server: Vein/Saved/SaveGames/
3. Delete or rename the existing Server.vns file to create a backup.
4. Upload your local save file into the SaveGames/ directory.
5. Rename your uploaded file to Server.vns.
Note: The save file must be named exactly
Server.vnsfor the server to recognize it. This is case-sensitive.
1. Start the server back up. Your world should now be loaded and available in-game.
