In Minecraft, you may notice that your server is Java Edition only. But what about your friends playing on PlayStation or Xbox? Or, maybe your friends prefer the Windows edition more. With Geyser, you can allow all players, regardless of Java, Windows, or Console, to join your server.
Geyser alone will allow players with the Java Edition purchased to join the server from the Bedrock edition. However, if you want players to be able to join from anywhere regardless of Java Edition ownership, you will also want to install Floodgate, which is covered in this guide.
1. Download Geyser and Floodgate
Note: Geyser and Floodgate require you are using either Fabric or Spigot. Be sure to download the correct jar files for the version you are using.
2. You should now have two jar files, one for Geyser and the other for Floodgate.
3. Open the File Manager
4. Navigate to /minecraft/plugins/
(if you're using Fabric, navigate to /minecraft/mods/
)
5. Upload the Geyser and Floodgate jar files this location
6. Restart the server
Note: If you only intend to use Geyser and not Floodgate, you can skip to the final step.
7. In the file manager, navigate to /minecraft/plugins/Geyser-Spigot
8. Right click config.yml
and click Edit
9. Change auth-type
from online to floodgate
10. Restart the server
11. To connect, Bedrock players will need to use the server port+3. For example, if your server's port is 27900, Bedrock players will use 27903.
