Palworld is still in Early Access and there are many bugs you might run into as a server owner. Here we'll make a summary of what bugs you may encounter, and what you can do as a server owner to best circumvent these issues. Over time, many of these bugs will be fixed by the Palworld developers.
If you are playing on a Palworld server, you will most likely run into more rubberbanding than you have when playing local or coop. This is largely due to performance issues with the server software as well as a memory leak that can hurt performance on the server when left running too long. At Indifferent Broccoli, we have server restarts at 00:00 UTC and every 8 hours after, however if you are facing more lag than normal, we recommend restarts as often as every 2-3 hours using our restart scheduler. If the lag does not stop, feel free to contact our support team.
If you are playing on Xbox, make sure you follow these steps to switch your server to be compatible with Xbox. Currently Palworld servers are not cross platform, and will work on either Steam or Xbox, but not both.
If you are uploading a save from coop, you may notice that all the data transferred except for the host players' data. This is because Palworld stores the host player's data in a different format than what the server understands. There currently isn't a way to fix this except for using third party tools that are very complex and not made for general users to be able to convert. We recommend storing the host players' items, Pals and equipment in the world in chests and Palboxes and then upload the save. Unfortunately, the player levels cannot be transferred.
